I tried mixing Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate with 4-5% water at room temperature and found that the texture was quite liquid, similar to Hada Labo water but more viscous. I tried mixing 7-8% and the texture was a gel that was a little soft and liquid, spreadable with my fingers. It had a gel-cream texture similar to aloe vera gel. I tried mixing 9-10% and the texture was a very dense gel, similar to Vic Vaporub or balm. However, the website states the usage rate at 0.5-5%. Can I use more than specified?
When mixing, try scooping it up with a spoon. It has small, round, flaky, marble-like, non-sedimentary deposits. Try applying it to the back of your hand and the round flakes disappear. There are no flakes or residue left on your skin. Is this normal dissolving? I didn't use a blender to mix it. I just used a hand whisk and a small spoon to mix it.
