Recommended Steps for Incorporating Oil Fix S in Your Sunscreen Formula

Based on your sunscreen formula and the issue of yellow liquid separation, which is likely the oil-soluble sunscreen agents, the key is to ensure the Oil Fix S effectively stabilizes the phase containing these oils.

Oil Fix S is a gelling agent designed for silicones and oils, and it acts as a stabilizer for water-in-silicone emulsions by stabilizing the external silicone/oil phase. To prevent the separation of your sunscreen oils, Oil Fix S should be fully dispersed within the combined oil and silicone phase.

Here are the recommended steps for incorporating Oil Fix S into your formula:

1. Combine all oil and silicone components: Mirasil 318, OMC, DHHB, BEMT, Octocrylene, Cyclopentasiloxane, BSG-350, and Vitamin E. Heat this mixture to 70°C.
2. Add Oil Fix S to the heated oil/silicone mixture from step 1. Disperse thoroughly using a homogenizer to ensure Oil Fix S is fully incorporated and the oil/silicone phase is effectively gelled.
3. Add the solid components: Titanium Dioxide 15 nm (Liquid), Titanium Dioxide 200 nm, PMMA Booster, and the preservative (Phenoxyethanol : DMDM 50:50 %).
4. Homogenize the entire mixture until a uniform emulsion/dispersion is achieved.

By adding Oil Fix S to the combined oil and silicone phase early in the process, you help stabilize this external phase, which should prevent the separation of the oil-soluble sunscreen filters.
