Adjusting Cream Formula for Better Spreadability and Texture
คำถาม
My cream formulation, which contains physical sunscreens (Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide), BB powder (BB Micro Silk™), and uses Warp Cream Maker™ as an emulsifier, feels dry and is difficult to spread. The current formula also includes Cyclomethicone, Greentea extract, Propylene Glycol, and water. How can I adjust the formula to improve its texture, making it less dry and easier to spread?

Suggested Formula Adjustment
To address the dryness and improve spreadability, you can modify your formula by increasing the emollient phase.
- Zinc Dioxide: 7%
- Titanium Dioxide: 7%
- Cyclomethicone: 15% (Increased from 10%)
- Warp Cream Maker™: 7%
- Greentea: 5%
- Propylene Glycol: 10%
- BB Micro Silk™: 6%
- LipidSoft™ Palm: 12.5% (Added emollient)
- Water: 30.5% (Reduced from 48% to balance the formula)
This adjustment increases the total emollient content by 17.5% (5% from Cyclomethicone and 12.5% from LipidSoft™ Palm), which should significantly improve the feel and spreadability of the cream.
LipidSoft™ Palm is suggested because it provides good softness and smoothness, helps the formula spread easily, and offers good moisturization, which helps counteract the dryness from the powders. If you prefer a lighter feel or have acne-prone skin, LipidSoft™ Lite could be an alternative as it has a very light texture and doesn't clog pores.
Remember to mix the oil/silicone phase ingredients (Cyclomethicone, Warp Cream Maker™, LipidSoft™ Palm) thoroughly before gradually adding the water phase while blending at high speed, as recommended for Warp Cream Maker™ formulations. Ensure the Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide are well dispersed in the oil/silicone phase before emulsifying.
