Adjusting Cream Formula: Reducing Stickiness and White Cast

Question

I have a cream formula that feels sticky and leaves a white cast after spreading.

Based on the staff's suggestions to reduce the white cast, there are two methods:

  1. Add non-volatile ingredients such as non-volatile Emollient (LipidSoft CC) or non-volatile Silicone (Dimethicone). The suggestion is to start with a small amount, such as 3%, and gradually increase if needed, while being careful not to cause stickiness.
  2. Change the type of Titanium Dioxide from Titanium Dioxide 30nm SilkTouch to Titanium Dioxide 15nm Liquid, as the latter is less white.

Can you confirm if these methods are effective for reducing both stickiness and white cast, and provide more details on how to implement them in the formula? Are there other possible solutions?

Answer

Hello, regarding the issue you encountered with the cream texture being sticky and leaving a white cast after spreading, the staff previously provided two methods to adjust the formula to reduce the white cast:

  1. Add non-volatile ingredients such as non-volatile Emollient or Silicone. This helps prevent the formula from drying out too quickly on the skin, which can reduce the white cast.
    • You can use LipidSoft CC (as you previously selected in your original formula) or any grade of Dimethicone.
    • It is recommended to start by adding a small amount, such as 3%, and gradually increase if the white cast persists. However, be careful not to use too high a concentration, as it may make the cream sticky.
  2. Change the type of Titanium Dioxide from Titanium Dioxide 30nm SilkTouch to Titanium Dioxide 15nm Liquid. The 15nm Liquid type has less whiteness compared to the 30nm SilkTouch type.

You can choose to use either one or both methods together. It is recommended to adjust gradually and observe the desired results.
