Question
I am using a 7% Azelaic acid formula and am concerned about its alkalinity. Based on previous advice, is adding 0.5% Lactic acid the correct way to adjust the pH?
Answer
Hello!
Regarding your follow-up question about adjusting the pH of your 7% Azelaic acid formula.
As advised by Staff C7, adding approximately 0.5% Lactic acid is the correct method to adjust the pH of your formula to be slightly acidic (around 5.5-6.5). This is because Azelaic acid is slightly alkaline, and a slightly acidic pH is better for facial skin.
