Question
I would like to check the following two formulas:
Lotion Formula (for whitening and moisturizing):
- GlucoBright™ (Acetyl glucosamine) 4%
- Safe-B3™ (Vitamin B3, Niacinamide) 4%
- MOIST24 (Glycereth-26) 5%
- glycolic acid (AHA) 100% 3%
- Phenoxyethanol (Extra Low Phenol) 0.5%
- Olive Oil (Extra Virgin) 5 %
- Distilled Water 78.5%
Mixing Procedure for Lotion:
Mix ingredients 1-5 in distilled water, stir until combined, then add ingredient 6 and stir until combined.
Hot Oil Formula (for cellulite, applied before exercise):
- Olive Oil (Extra Virgin) 99 %
- Chili Hot™ 1%
Please check if these formulas are correct and mixable.
Answer
Subject: Checking the lotion formula
Regarding the lotion formula for whitening and moisturizing:
The staff has reviewed your formula and provided feedback. The main point is that the formula currently lacks an emulsifier, which is necessary to properly mix the oil phase (Olive Oil) and the water phase (Distilled Water and dissolved ingredients).
Furthermore, the presence of Glycolic Acid (AHA) makes emulsification more challenging due to the low pH it creates.
The staff suggested three ways to address this issue:
- Replace Glycolic Acid: Substitute Glycolic Acid with a non-acidic exfoliant like FruitPeel (recommended at 3%).
- Remove Olive Oil: Omit the Olive Oil and create a water-based gel texture using Pro Polymer.
- Use an Emulsifier: For those with mixing experience, use Butter Cream Maker at 3% to emulsify the current formula without changing other ingredients.
Regarding the hot oil formula for cellulite:
The staff confirmed that this formula can be mixed as is.
