Cleansing Balm Formula for Dry Skin

This formula aims to create a solid balm that melts on contact with the skin, effectively dissolving makeup, and then emulsifies with water for easy rinsing, leaving the skin feeling soft and moisturized.

Ingredients:

• Oil Phase (approx. 76%):
  • NaturalProfile™ Safflower Seed Oil: 41%
  • Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride: 20%
  • LipidSoft™ Palm: 15%
• Emulsifier:
  • Oilsify 15: 15%
• Thickeners/Structuring Agents:
  • Oil Thick™ Hard: 5%
  • Polyethylene Wax (Hard, Melting Point 88C): 3%
• Antioxidant:
  • Vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol): 0.5%
• Preservative:
  • Phenoxyethanol (Extra Pure): 0.5%

Ingredient Notes:

• NaturalProfile™ Safflower Seed Oil: A nourishing oil high in linoleic acid, excellent for dry skin, helping to retain moisture and improve skin texture.
• Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride: A light, non-greasy emollient that helps dissolve makeup and leaves a smooth feel.
• LipidSoft™ Palm: An emollient that provides good moisture and helps dissolve certain ingredients.
• Oilsify 15: An oil-soluble emulsifier that allows the oil phase to mix with water and rinse cleanly from the skin.
• Oil Thick™ Hard: A gelling agent that helps create the solid balm texture.
• Polyethylene Wax: A wax that contributes to the solid structure and stability of the balm.
• Vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol): An antioxidant to help protect the oils from going rancid and provide skin benefits.
• Phenoxyethanol (Extra Pure): A broad-spectrum preservative to prevent microbial growth, especially important if any water is introduced into the product during use.

Mixing Instructions:

1. Combine NaturalProfile™ Safflower Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, LipidSoft™ Palm, Oil Thick™ Hard, and Polyethylene Wax in a heat-resistant container.
2. Heat the mixture gently to 85-90°C, stirring continuously until Oil Thick™ Hard and Polyethylene Wax are completely melted and the mixture is clear and homogeneous.
3. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool down to below 60°C.
4. Add Oilsify 15, Vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol), and Phenoxyethanol (Extra Pure).
5. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed and the mixture starts to thicken as it cools further.
6. Pour the mixture into your desired containers before it fully solidifies. Allow to cool completely at room temperature until set into a balm.

Adjusting Texture:

You can adjust the percentage of Oil Thick™ Hard and Polyethylene Wax slightly to achieve your preferred balm consistency. Increasing the percentage will result in a firmer balm, while decreasing it will result in a softer balm. Always make small adjustments and test.
