Difference between Benzyl Alcohol and Benzyl Benzoate

Benzyl Alcohol and Benzyl Benzoate are not the same substance. They are distinct chemical compounds with different structures, even though their names are similar. Because they are different compounds, they also have different smells and properties. The store sells them separately because they are indeed different products used for different purposes or to achieve different effects in formulations. Benzyl Alcohol, FEMA 2137 has a mild, sweet, balsamic odor, while Benzyl Benzoate (FEMA-2138) has a faint, sweet, balsamic odor.
