Difference between BTMS 50% and BTMS 90%
Question
I need BTMS 50% but only found BTMS 90% on the website. Are these two ingredients the same, or can I mix BTMS 90% to obtain BTMS 50%?
Answer
Based on the information reviewed, Behentrimonium methosulfate (BTMS 50%) and Behentrimonium methosulfate (BTMS 90%) are different products.
BTMS 50% contains approximately 50% Behentrimonium methosulfate and also includes Cetearyl Alcohol as a co-ingredient, which acts as a stabilizer and emollient. On the other hand, BTMS 90% has a higher concentration of Behentrimonium methosulfate, around 90%, and does not include Cetearyl Alcohol in its main composition.
Therefore, you cannot simply mix BTMS 90% to obtain BTMS 50%, as they are different formulations from the manufacturer. If your desired formulation specifies the use of BTMS 50%, it is recommended to use the product specifically labeled as BTMS 50% to achieve the properties and results intended by the formula.
