Question
I'm having trouble using my digital scale. When I try to calibrate it with a 200g weight, it doesn't show the correct weight.
I saw a reply suggesting to remove the black protective cover. I'm not sure if I've done everything correctly.
How should I properly use and calibrate my digital scale?

Regarding the issue with your digital scale not showing the weight correctly when using the 200g calibration weight, here are a few things you can check:
- Check for protective covers: As suggested by panditze, make sure you have removed any protective covers or films from the scale, especially the weighing platform. Some scales have a black plastic cover that needs to be taken off before use or calibration.
- Ensure a stable, flat surface: Place the scale on a hard, flat, and stable surface, away from drafts or vibrations.
- Check the batteries: Low batteries can cause inaccurate readings or failure to register weight. Try replacing the batteries.
- Calibration procedure: Double-check the instructions for your specific scale model. Calibration procedures can vary. Usually, you turn the scale on, wait for it to stabilize at 0.00g, press the 'TARE' or 'CAL' button (sometimes you need to press and hold it), wait for it to prompt for the weight, and then place the specified calibration weight (like your 200g weight). Pressing TARE before placing the weight is for zeroing the scale with an empty container, not for calibration.
- Weight capacity: Ensure the 200g weight is within the scale's maximum capacity.
If you have followed these steps and the issue persists, there might be a problem with the scale itself.
