Answer

DIY Makeup Remover for Oily Skin

For oily skin, a cleansing water type makeup remover is often a good choice as it feels light and refreshing. You can easily make your own using MakeUp-Wash™ (PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides).

MakeUp-Wash™ is a gentle surfactant that forms micelles in water, effectively dissolving and removing makeup, dirt, and impurities from pores without drying out the skin. It is known for its low irritation potential.

Here is a basic example formulation for a cleansing water:

  • MakeUp-Wash™: 3-5%
  • Emollient (such as Glycerin or Butylene Glycol): 5-10%
  • Water: The rest (up to 100%)

Mixing Method: Add MakeUp-Wash™ to the water and mix. Do not add water to MakeUp-Wash™.

If you prefer an oil-based remover or cleansing balm texture, PEG-10 Isostearate is an ingredient commonly used in such formulations to help dissolve makeup in oil phases and emulsify when rinsed with water.
