Question

I want to make a Retinal serum easily and without using heat. Could you provide a formulation using ingredients like Silky Serum Base Plus, Myristyl Nicotinate (Max-B3™), and Retinal-EZ™ (Encapsulated Water Dispersible Retinal), along with mixing instructions?

Answer

Easy Retinal Serum Formulation (No Heat)

This formulation uses Retinal-EZ™ for ease of mixing without heat.

Ingredients:

  • Silky Serum Base Plus: 90%
  • Myristyl Nicotinate (Max-B3™): 5%
  • Retinal-EZ™ (Encapsulated Water Dispersible Retinal): 5% (Provides 0.1% pure Retinal in the final formula)

  • Note: Argan Oil was suggested as a solvent for the standard Retinal powder. Since Retinal-EZ™ is water-dispersible and the Silky Serum Base Plus can handle oil-soluble ingredients like Myristyl Nicotinate, Argan Oil is not strictly necessary for dissolving the actives in this simplified method. You could potentially include a small percentage of Argan Oil for its skin benefits if desired, adjusting the Silky Serum Base Plus percentage accordingly, but ensure the total oil phase (Myristyl Nicotinate + Argan Oil) does not exceed the base's capacity.*

Mixing Instructions (Hand Mixing):

  1. Weigh out the required amount of Silky Serum Base Plus into a clean container.
  2. Add the Myristyl Nicotinate (Max-B3™) to the Silky Serum Base Plus. Stir or mix thoroughly by hand until the Myristyl Nicotinate is fully dispersed or dissolved.
  3. Add the Retinal-EZ™ to the mixture. Stir or mix well by hand until it is evenly incorporated into the base.
  4. Continue stirring gently for a few minutes to ensure all ingredients are well combined and the serum texture is uniform.
  5. Transfer the finished serum into an opaque, airtight container to protect the Retinal-EZ™ from light.

This method is simpler than using standard Retinal powder and avoids the need for heat, making it suitable for hand mixing.
