Ampho-Glycolic™ vs. Standard Glycolic Acid Equivalence

Ampho-Glycolic™ is a form of Glycolic Acid that is complexed with Arginine. This complex was developed to significantly reduce the irritation and stinging sensation often associated with standard Glycolic Acid, while maintaining its effectiveness.

If you use 5% Ampho-Glycolic™ in your formulation, it is designed to provide a similar level of effectiveness in terms of skin cell turnover and exfoliation as using 5% of standard Glycolic Acid (like Glycopure™).

Although Ampho-Glycolic™ contains 64% Glycolic Acid (meaning 5% Ampho-Glycolic™ contains 3.2% actual Glycolic Acid), the complexing with Arginine allows this lower concentration of free acid to achieve comparable results to a higher concentration of standard Glycolic Acid, but with the key benefit of being much gentler on the skin.

Therefore, 5% Ampho-Glycolic™ is generally considered equivalent in effectiveness to 5% standard Glycolic Acid, specifically engineered for reduced irritation.
