Eye Cream Formulation Adjustment and Feedback

Question

I am formulating an eye cream and encountered issues with the texture being too thin. I also want to ensure proper preservation and understand the efficacy of the ingredients for wrinkles and dark circles.

My formula uses Satin Mousse as an emulsifier and includes ingredients like Regu-Age, Beta-Glucan, Cucumber extract, Pro Vitamin B5, and Sesaflash. I have removed Covi-ox T-50 and Citric Acid from the formula and increased Phenoxyethanol to 1% for preservation.

How can I make the texture thicker?

Thank you for sharing your eye cream formulation and the subsequent discussion. It's great that you're experimenting and refining your recipe!

Based on the conversation:

  • You've decided to remove Covi-ox T-50 and Citric Acid, which makes sense given the low percentage of oil and the naturally mild acidity of the formula.
  • You've increased Phenoxyethanol to 1% for better preservation, as advised.
  • To address the texture issue and make the cream thicker, the suggestion is to incorporate Pro Polymer (at 1.5-2%) into the water phase to create a gel before combining it with the oil phase and emulsifier (Satin Mousse). This should help achieve the desired consistency.

Regarding the efficacy for wrinkles and dark circles, as discussed, results can vary greatly depending on individual skin types and the severity of the concerns. The ingredients you've included (like Regu-Age, Beta-Glucan, Cucumber extract, Pro Vitamin B5, Sesaflash) are commonly used for these purposes, but the overall effectiveness will only be known once you try the revised formula.

We hope the addition of Pro Polymer helps you achieve the desired texture! Please feel free to share your results or ask if you have any more questions after trying the updated formula.
