Foam Pump Cleanser Formulation: Surfactants and Foaming
Question
I am formulating a cleanser for a foam pump bottle. I have questions regarding the surfactant system:
- Is the current surfactant ratio suitable for cleaning and generating foam in a foam pump bottle? Does this formula help with clogged pores?
- If I add a non-ionic, non-foaming surfactant, how will it affect the foam and the dispensed product? Will it create foam?
Answer
Hello,
Regarding your first question, the staff has already replied that the proportion of surfactant in your formula is suitable for cleaning and generating foam in a foam pump bottle. It is not necessary to adjust or add other types of surfactants for this purpose. They also mentioned that this formula does not directly help with clogged pores, but if you need more foam, you can consider replacing some SulFoam with Cond-Foam.
For your second question about adding a non-ionic, non-foaming surfactant, that substance will be dispensed along with the liquid when you pump. However, it will not turn into foam by itself because these substances do not have foam-generating properties like foaming surfactants (such as SulFoam). The foam produced will primarily still come from the foaming surfactants in the formula.
Hope this information is helpful.
