Question

What ingredient should be used to make bath bombs foam? I've heard Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) powder is used; do you sell it, and what is the recommended usage percentage?

Answer

Foaming Agents for Bath Bombs

To make bath bombs produce foam, you need to use a foaming agent or surfactant. While Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a common option, there are other gentle alternatives available that are suitable for bath bombs.

We have the following foaming agents that can be used:

  • IseFoam™ (Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate): This is a very gentle detergent that produces good foam and is commonly used in bath bombs. The recommended usage rate is 1-15%.
  • Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Taurate (Powder, 95%): Another gentle detergent derived from amino acids, it also provides good lather. The recommended usage rate is 5-30%.

Both of these ingredients can help create the desired foaming effect in your bath bombs.
