Question
I have a 50g formula intended for wrinkle reduction that includes both Pep-Coll (Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5) and Matrixyl 3000 (Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7).
Could you please review this formulation and advise on:
- The effectiveness of using both Pep-Coll and Matrixyl 3000 together?
- Whether a preservative is needed, and if so, what type and concentration is recommended for a 50g formula?
Answer
Based on the feedback regarding your 50g formula:
- The staff noted that using both Pep-Coll (Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5) and Matrixyl 3000 (Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7) results in overlapping effects, which increases cost without significantly boosting efficacy.
- It is recommended to choose either Pep-Coll or Matrixyl 3000, but not both.
- Additionally, it is strongly recommended to add a preservative, such as Phenoxyethanol SA, at 1.0% (0.5g for a 50g formula) to prevent microbial contamination.
- The remaining amount in your 50g formula would be water.
