Formula Review for Combination Skin (Oily T-zone, Pores, Scars) with Niacinamide Suggestion

Asked by: happykasama On: September 01, 2018 Product Type: Cosmetics

Question

I have combination skin (oily T-zone) with concerns including wrinkles, mild acne scars (orange peel texture), dark spots, and enlarged pores. I would like to get feedback on a serum formula I am using/considering and suggestions on how to improve it to address these issues, especially the oiliness and pores. The current/proposed serum formula includes:

  • Alpha Arbutin
  • Hyaluronic Acid (small molecule)
  • Hyaluronic Acid (standard molecule)
  • Repair Activator
  • Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu)
  • Water

Additionally, I would like to know if Copper Peptide is effective for old acne scars or if other treatments are necessary.

Subject: Formula Review

Thank you for sharing your proposed formula and skin concerns. Based on your combination skin (oily T-zone), wrinkles, mild acne scars, dark spots, and enlarged pores, your formula addresses several points, particularly wrinkles and dark spots with Repair Activator, Copper Peptide, and Alpha Arbutin.

To better address your oily T-zone and enlarged pores, and following up on the previous staff suggestion, adding an ingredient like Safe-B3 (Niacinamide) would be very beneficial. Niacinamide helps balance oil production, minimize the appearance of pores, improve skin texture, and can also help with dark spots and skin barrier function.

Considering your goals, we recommend adjusting your formula as follows:

  • Alpha Arbutin: 2%
  • Hyaluronic Acid (small molecule): 0.5%
  • Hyaluronic Acid (standard molecule): 0.5%
  • Repair Activator: 10%
  • Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu): 3%
  • Safe-B3 (Niacinamide): 4%
  • Water: 80%

This adjustment incorporates Safe-B3 to help manage oiliness and pores while maintaining the ingredients for anti-aging and brightening.

Regarding the mild, old acne scars with orange peel texture, as the staff mentioned, while Copper Peptide can support skin regeneration, significant improvement on old scars might require combining topical treatments with procedures like laser or derma roller for best results.

Please ensure all ingredients are compatible and follow proper formulation guidelines for stability and safety.
