Formulating Activated Resorcinol in a Clear Water-Based Serum

Activated Resorcinol is only soluble in oil. If you want to make a water-based serum without natural oils, you need to dissolve the Activated Resorcinol in a LipidSoft type substance first. LipidSoft is an emollient that does not contain oil and there are various types available, such as LipidSoft CC, LipidSoft Lite, LipidSoft Palm, depending on the desired texture.

Then, a solubilizer like Flora Solve Clear is used to help disperse the LipidSoft containing the dissolved Activated Resorcinol into the water phase, resulting in a clear serum.

Example guideline for mixing to get a clear serum using Flora Solve Clear, as advised by the staff:

• Mix Activated Resorcinol with the desired type of LipidSoft (e.g., LipidSoft CC, LipidSoft Lite, LipidSoft Palm) in an appropriate ratio and stir or blend until clear.
• Mix the Activated Resorcinol + LipidSoft mixture from step 1 with Flora Solve Clear and stir or blend until clear.
• Gradually add the mixture from step 2 into the water phase little by little, stirring or blending continuously until well combined. If the mixture becomes cloudy, you may need to increase the ratio of Flora Solve Clear until the serum becomes clear.
