Question
Hi, to make a Healing Wound Serum with your 2000ppm Colloidal Yellow solution test batch of total 25mls product, could I use the following:
| Ingredient | Actual Grams | % |
|---|---|---|
| Distilled Water (NDA) | 23.3g | 92.00% |
| Nano Colloidal Silver 2000pm solution (Water Soluble) | 0.5g | 2.00% |
| Glycerine or Hyaluronic Acid | 1.3g | 5.00% |
| Panthanol Vitamin 5 | 0.5g | 1% |
| Total | 25mls |
Or is adding Pananthol a waste of time and just stick to the other 3 ingredients? If not, what do you suggest? It is for home use, not for sale. Many thanks.
Answer
Ingredient Status & Resolution
Before we dive into your formula, here is the status of the ingredients you requested from our catalog:
- Nano Silver (2000ppm, Colloidal, Yellow Solution): Found.
- Distilled Water (NDA): Not Found. While we do not carry the "NDA" brand specifically, you can use any high-quality Distilled Water as the base for your serum.
- Glycerine: Found.
- Hyaluronic Acid: Found.
- Panthenol (Vitamin B5): Found.
Is Panthenol a "waste of time"?
No, it is highly recommended. Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) is a powerhouse for a healing serum. It is clinically recognized for its ability to:
- Accelerate Wound Healing: It promotes skin cell proliferation, helping the skin repair itself faster.
- Reduce Inflammation: It effectively calms redness and irritation.
- Strengthen the Skin Barrier: It helps prevent moisture loss during the healing process.
Critical Stability Warning: Nano Silver vs. Hyaluronic Acid
There is a technical conflict in your proposed list:
- Colloidal Nano Silver is extremely sensitive to electrolytes (salts).
- Most Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate) is a salt. Adding it to the Nano Silver solution can cause the silver particles to aggregate (clump), which may lead to discoloration (turning grey/black) and a loss of antimicrobial effectiveness.
- Recommendation: Use Glycerin instead of Hyaluronic Acid. Glycerin is non-ionic and will not interfere with the stability of the colloidal silver.
Suggested Healing Serum Formula (25g Batch)
To ensure stability and maximum healing benefit, here is a balanced version of your recipe:
| Ingredient | Grams | % | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Distilled Water | 23.00g | 92% | Base Solvent |
| Nano Silver (2000ppm) | 0.50g | 2% | Antimicrobial / Disinfectant |
| Glycerin | 1.25g | 5% | Non-ionic Moisturizer |
| Panthenol (Vitamin B5) | 0.25g | 1% | Healing & Regeneration |
| Total | 25.00g | 100% |
Mixing Instructions
- Dissolve: Add the Panthenol powder to the Distilled Water and stir until completely clear.
- Hydrate: Add the Glycerin and stir until uniform.
- Active: Add the Nano Silver (2000ppm) last. Stir gently.
- pH Check: Ensure the final pH is between 6.0 and 7.0. This range is optimal for both Nano Silver stability and Panthenol effectiveness.
- Storage: Store in an amber or opaque bottle away from direct sunlight, as Nano Silver is light-sensitive.
- Note: Since this formula is 92% water, if you plan to keep it for more than a few days, you should add a preservative (like Phenoxyethanol at 1%) to prevent microbial growth.*
