Question
Please help me with a formulation for a water-based gel serum using the following ingredients:
- NanoTXA emulsion
- Salmon DNA PDRN
- Pep-R-Synthe-6
- Copper Peptide (Tripeptide-1)
- Hyaluronic acid (Low MW and High MW)
I have a 1% HA powder in water solution as a base. I would like to use 10% of each active ingredient for a 30 ml serum and EUXYL PE 9010 as a preservative.
Answer
This formulation for a 30 ml Water-Based Gel Serum uses your 1% Hyaluronic Acid solution as the base and incorporates high-performance actives at the concentrations you requested.
Serum Formulation (Total 30 ml)
| Ingredient | Percentage (%) | Amount for 30 ml | Function |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1% Hyaluronic Acid Solution (Base) | 59% | 17.7 ml | Hydrating Base / Gelling Agent |
| Nano-TXA™ (Tranexamic Acid Nano Emulsion) | 10% | 3.0 ml | Whitening & Penetration Booster |
| Salmon DNA (PDRN) 5000ppm Solution | 10% | 3.0 ml | Skin Repair & Regeneration |
| Pep®-Synthe6 (Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38) | 10%* | 3.0 ml | Anti-Wrinkle Peptide |
| Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu) 1000ppm Solution | 10%* | 3.0 ml | Scar Repair & Anti-Aging |
| PE 1090 Preservative (Extra Pure) | 1% | 0.3 ml | Broad-spectrum Preservative |
- *Note: The standard recommended usage rate for Pep®-Synthe6 is 2%, and Copper Peptide (1000ppm) is 1-3%. Using them at 10% creates an extremely high-potency formula. Please perform a patch test before full application.*
Mixing Instructions
- Prepare the Base: Use your 1% Hyaluronic Acid solution. For a professional feel, a blend of Hyaluronic Acid Standard Molecule and Hyaluronic Acid Large Molecule is recommended.
- Add Actives: Add Nano-TXA™, Salmon DNA, and Pep®-Synthe6 to the base one by one, stirring gently until the mixture is uniform.
- Add Copper Peptide: Add the Copper Peptide solution last. The serum will naturally turn a light blue color.
- Preserve: Add the PE 1090 Preservative and mix thoroughly.
- Check pH: Use a pH meter or strip to ensure the final pH is between 4.5 and 7.0. This range is critical for the stability of both the Copper Peptide and Nano-TXA™.
Critical Precautions
- No EDTA: Do NOT add Disodium EDTA to this formula. EDTA will bind with the copper ions, making the Copper Peptide ineffective.
- Temperature: Mix all ingredients at room temperature. Do not use heat, as it can degrade the peptides and DNA.
- Storage: Store the finished serum in a cool, dark place (refrigerator is ideal) to maintain the potency of the active ingredients.
