Glycerin Soap Formula for Acne

For a glycerin soap formula aimed at treating acne, incorporating active ingredients known for their anti-acne properties is key. As suggested, BioSulphur™ EQ and Ichthammol are excellent choices for this purpose.

• Glycerin: This forms the base of your soap, acting as a humectant to help the skin retain moisture, preventing the dryness often associated with acne treatments.

• BioSulphur™ EQ: This ingredient is effective in reducing skin and scalp oiliness, tightening pores, eliminating dandruff, and reducing redness from acne. It also helps exfoliate dead skin cells. It has a milder smell compared to traditional sulfur.

• Ichthammol: Known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, Ichthammol is very effective in reducing itching, redness, and inflammation associated with acne. For wash-off products like soap, a usage rate of 2-3% is recommended.

When formulating your glycerin soap, you can add BioSulphur™ EQ at a rate of 1-10% (4-5% is often recommended for oily skin) and Ichthammol at 2-3% to the melted glycerin soap base. Ensure thorough mixing to evenly disperse the active ingredients before pouring into molds.

These ingredients work synergistically to target the various factors contributing to acne, such as excess oil production, bacterial growth, and inflammation, making them suitable additions to an acne-fighting glycerin soap.
