Question
I have oily skin and am interested in using products containing glycols, specifically Natural-C Glycol™ and Ethoxydiglycol. My concern is whether these ingredients will make my skin produce more oil or if they will just feel sticky on my skin. Could you please clarify the effect of these glycols, particularly Ethoxydiglycol, on oily skin compared to other glycols like Propylene Glycol or Butylene Glycol?
Answer
Glycols generally do not increase skin oiliness, but they can feel sticky or heavy on oily skin. Regarding your interest in Natural-C Glycol™ and Ethoxydiglycol:
- Ethoxydiglycol is a type of glycol that is much lighter than others like Propylene Glycol or Butylene Glycol. It is less likely to cause a sticky feeling, even on oily skin.
- Using any glycol will primarily affect the skin feel, making it potentially feel sticky or slower to absorb, but it will not cause your skin to produce more oil.
