How to Use EasyTan™ (Erythrulose) Ingredient
Question
How to use the EasyTan™ (Erythrulose) ingredient, clarify if it needs to be mixed into a formulation like cream or lotion, and understand its application method.
Answer
How to Use EasyTan™ (Erythrulose)
EasyTan™ (Erythrulose) is an active ingredient, not a ready-to-use cream. It needs to be incorporated into a cosmetic formulation, such as a gel, lotion, or cream, to be applied to the skin.
How it works:
EasyTan™ reacts with amino acids on the skin's surface to create a temporary tanning effect without sun exposure. It typically produces a blackish tone, often used in combination with DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) which gives a brownish tone.
Usage Instructions:
- Usage Rate: EasyTan™ is typically used at a concentration of 1-10% in a formulation.
- Mixing: It is soluble in water. Avoid exposing it to temperatures above 80°C during mixing.
- Formulation: It should be added to the water phase of your formulation.
- pH Stability: EasyTan™ is most stable at a pH between 2.5 and 3.5. It deteriorates faster at pH levels above 5.0.
- Temperature Stability: It is sensitive to heat. It degrades quickly above 40°C. For long-term stability, store formulations containing EasyTan™ below 10°C. The raw material itself should be stored in the refrigerator (5-8°C).
Important Note: EasyTan™ does not provide sun protection. Always use a separate sunscreen when exposed to UV light.
Therefore, you cannot apply EasyTan™ directly from the package. You need to create a cosmetic product (like a self-tanning gel or lotion) and add EasyTan™ at the recommended usage rate during the formulation process, keeping in mind the temperature and pH stability requirements.
