How to Use Fragrance Concentrate for Body Spray

Question

I purchased the fragrance `Love Story (compare to Chloe)` from the Fragrance category. I would like to know:

1. Do I need to mix it with anything, or can I put it in a spray bottle and spray it directly?
2. Do other fragrances in the same category also need to be mixed?

I plan to use it as a body spray.

Answer

How to Use Fragrance Concentrate

The product you purchased, "Chloe (compare to Chloé)", is likely a fragrance concentrate ("หัวน้ำหอม"). These are potent raw materials used for creating perfumes and scented products, and they must be diluted before being applied to the skin.

Applying pure fragrance concentrate directly to the skin is not recommended as it can cause irritation or sensitization.

To use it as a body spray or perfume, you need to mix it with a suitable diluent. The most common diluent for spray perfumes is perfumer's alcohol.

  • Typical Dilution Ratios (Fragrance Concentrate in Alcohol):
    • Eau de Parfum (EDP): 15-20% fragrance
    • Eau de Toilette (EDT): 10-15% fragrance
    • Body Mist: 5-10% fragrance

You can also dilute the fragrance concentrate in a carrier oil (such as fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil) to create an oil-based roll-on perfume.

This need for dilution generally applies to most products labeled as "fragrance oil" or "fragrance concentrate" intended for skin application. Ready-to-use perfumes are already diluted and do not require further mixing.
