Answer

Subject: Regarding your lip balm formula

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your formula. Based on the ingredients, this is indeed a lip balm formula, and it includes colorants (D/C Red no.27 Lake and White Iron Oxides) which would give it a light red tint.

Our staff has reviewed the formula and suggested replacing Lexfeel D5 with LipidSoft™ Lite. LipidSoft™ Lite is a light emollient that can be a suitable alternative for Lexfeel D5 in lip balm formulations.

Here is the original formula you provided:

  • Phase A
    • Lexfeel D5: 56.5%
    • Jojoba Oil: 15.0%
    • White Petrolatum Jelly Plonier 3476: 7%
    • D/C Red no.27 Lake: 0.3%
    • White Iron Oxides Easy mix: 1.20%
  • Phase B
    • Pure white bees wax: 10%
    • Carnauba Wax: 8%
  • Phase C
    • Spectrastat -E: 1%
    • dl-alpha tocopherol: 1%
    • Total: 100%

And here is the adjusted formula with the suggested replacement:

  • Phase A
    • LipidSoft™ Lite: 56.5%
    • Jojoba Oil: 15.0%
    • White Petrolatum Jelly Plonier 3476: 7%
    • D/C Red no.27 Lake: 0.3%
    • White Iron Oxides Easy mix: 1.20%
  • Phase B
    • Pure white bees wax: 10%
    • Carnauba Wax: 8%
  • Phase C
    • Spectrastat -E: 1%
    • dl-alpha tocopherol: 1%
    • Total: 100%

This adjusted formula maintains the overall structure and percentages while incorporating the suggested ingredient change.
