Question
Could you provide a formula and instructions for making a matte eyeshadow with a cream texture?
Answer
Matte Eyeshadow Formula
Hello! For a matte eyeshadow formula, you can create it by mixing a high amount of Mica color powders with a cream base.
Here is a sample formula you can adapt:
- Butter Cream Maker 4% (Acts as an emulsifier to create the cream texture)
- Dimethicone (Light/50, Low-Odor) 10% (Helps the texture feel smooth and easy to blend)
- Sericite Powder (6 Micron, Matte, Methicone Coated) or Sericite Powder (CompactPro™, Matte, Dimethicone Coated) + various Mica color powders (such as Mica Powder (20 Micron, Methicone Coated)) totaling approximately 20-40% of the formula (Matte Sericite Powder helps the eyeshadow appear matte, and Mica color powders provide the color)
- Mild Preserved Eco™ (Preservative-Free) 1% (Preservative)
- Water to make up 100%
Instructions:
- Combine the water phase and Butter Cream Maker phase. Heating may be required (refer to Butter Cream Maker instructions). Blend until a cream texture is formed.
- Add Dimethicone and Mild Preserved Eco™ to the cream base. Blend until well combined.
- Gradually add the Sericite Powder and Mica color powders to the cream base. Blend or mix until evenly dispersed. Adjust the amount of color powder based on the desired color intensity.
- If you want a more matte finish and oil absorption, you can add MatteSilica 5XL™ (5 Micron, Max Oil Absorb) in step 3 at a concentration of 1-15%.
This formula will yield a matte cream eyeshadow texture.
