Question
Can Aloe Vera Gel (Heavy) and Panthenol (Vitamin B5) ExtraLite™ be mixed 1:1 (half and half) for body application?
Answer
Mixing Aloe Vera Gel (Heavy) and D-Panthenol Care
Mixing Aloe Vera Gel (Heavy) and D-Panthenol Care (Pro-Vitamin B5, 100% Liquid) in a 1:1 ratio for body application is not recommended.
Here's why:
- High Panthenol Concentration: Aloe Vera Gel (Heavy) already contains 3% Panthenol. D-Panthenol Care is 100% liquid Panthenol. Mixing them half and half would result in a final mixture with an extremely high concentration of Panthenol (approximately 51.5%).
- Exceeds Recommended Usage: The recommended usage rate for D-Panthenol Care on skin is typically 1-10%, with 1-3% being ideal to avoid stickiness. A concentration over 50% is far beyond the recommended safe and effective range.
- Potential Issues: Such a high concentration of Panthenol would likely make the mixture very sticky and could potentially cause skin irritation.
Recommendation:
Instead of mixing them 1:1, it is better to add D-Panthenol Care (Pro-Vitamin B5, 100% Liquid) into the Aloe Vera Gel (Heavy) base at its recommended usage rate for skin, which is typically 1-3% (or up to 10% if you can tolerate the potential stickiness). This will allow you to benefit from the properties of both products without creating an overly concentrated and potentially problematic mixture.
