Mixing Fragrance Oil in Oil and Alcohol Bases

When you mix a fragrance oil with Fractionated Coconut Oil, you create an oil-based solution. Fractionated Coconut Oil is an excellent carrier for fragrance oils as they are soluble in oil.

However, if you then try to mix this oil-based fragrance solution with an alcohol base (like Ethyl Alcohol), the result will likely be separation or cloudiness. This is because oil and alcohol bases are generally not miscible with each other without the use of a suitable emulsifier or solubilizer.

The fragrance oil itself might have some solubility in alcohol, but the Fractionated Coconut Oil will not dissolve in the alcohol base. This incompatibility between the oil base and the alcohol base will prevent them from forming a clear, homogenous solution.

Therefore, mixing a fragrance oil solution in Fractionated Coconut Oil with an alcohol base is generally not recommended if you want a clear, stable product like a typical perfume spray. You would need to formulate the fragrance directly into the alcohol base (potentially using a small amount of solubilizer depending on the fragrance oil) or use an emulsifier to combine the oil and alcohol phases.
