Question
I want to make a scrub using Vegetable Vaseline mixed with salt. How should I mix the salt, and will the salt dissolve in the Vegetable Vaseline?
Answer
Hello,
Regarding making a scrub with Vegetable Vaseline and salt:
Salt has a very high melting point and will not dissolve in Vegetable Vaseline when heated to the temperatures required to melt the Vegetable Vaseline (around 70-80°C). Vegetable Vaseline starts to liquefy at 50-60°C.
You should add the salt while the Vegetable Vaseline is melted and still in a liquid state (above 50-60°C). This will help ensure the salt is evenly distributed throughout the mixture before it cools down and begins to solidify into a paste. Adding it while liquid makes mixing much easier.
Hope this helps!
