PVA is a water-soluble polymer that creates a film when it dries. Different types of PVA are available, varying in viscosity and hydrolysis level, which affect the properties of the resulting film:

• Viscosity: Higher viscosity PVA generally results in a harder, more waterproof film with better adhesion. Lower viscosity PVA yields a softer, more flexible film that is easier to dissolve in water.
• Hydrolysis: High hydrolysis PVA creates a harder, more waterproof film that adheres better to hydrophilic (water-loving) surfaces. Low hydrolysis PVA is easier to dissolve in water, results in a more flexible film, and adheres better to hydrophobic surfaces.

For peel-off face masks, medium viscosity PVA types like Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA 217) 20-26mpa.s. Partial or Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA 117) 22-30mpa.s. Fully are often suitable for creating the peeling sheet.

Usage Rate: PVA is typically used at a concentration of 1-20% in the formula.

Mixing Method: PVA powder should be dispersed in water at room temperature first, then heated while stirring continuously until it dissolves completely to avoid clumping.

Alternative: Ready-Made Bases
