Perfume Formulation with DHEAS, Fragrance, and Alcohol

Question

I want to formulate a perfume using DHEAS (0.2% in Alcohol), Ethyl Alcohol, a desired fragrance (like Pure Seduction), and FloraFix/Last Fix. The staff provided a sample formula structure:

  • Any fragrance base: 90%
  • DHEAS (0.20% in Alcohol): 10%

My question is: How should I replace the "Any fragrance base 90%" with Ethyl Alcohol and my desired fragrance (Pure Seduction) and FloraFix/Last Fix? What is the correct ratio for all ingredients (Pure Seduction fragrance, FloraFix, DHEAS (0.2% in Alcohol), Ethyl Alcohol) and what is the mixing procedure?

Answer

Hello,

Regarding your question about mixing Pure Seduction fragrance with Pheromone DHEAS (0.2% in Alcohol) and FloraFix/Last Fix, the staff provided an example ratio from the DHEAS product details page:

  • Any fragrance base: 90%
  • DHEAS (0.20% in Alcohol): 10%

The 90% fragrance base refers to the mixture of Ethyl Alcohol and your desired fragrance (Pure Seduction).

The ratio you proposed (Pure Seduction fragrance 30g, DHEAS 20g, FloraFix 10g, remaining Ethyl Alcohol) is different from the 90% to 10% ratio recommended by the staff.

To achieve the ratio recommended by the staff (DHEAS solution at 10% of the total formula) and include the other ingredients you want (Pure Seduction fragrance, FloraFix), you can calculate as follows. Let's assume you want to make a total of 100 grams of perfume:

  1. DHEAS (0.2% in Alcohol) solution: Use 10% of the total weight = 10 grams.
  2. Remaining mixture (Pure Seduction fragrance + FloraFix + Ethyl Alcohol): Use 90% of the total weight = 90 grams.
  3. This 90 grams will consist of Pure Seduction fragrance, FloraFix, and Ethyl Alcohol. The amount of fragrance (Pure Seduction + FloraFix) can be adjusted based on your desired strength. If you want a total fragrance oil concentration (including FloraFix) of approximately 20% of the total formula (which is roughly Eau de Parfum concentration), you would use a total of 20 grams of fragrance oils.
  4. If you want to use 10 grams of FloraFix as in your example, you would use 10 grams of Pure Seduction fragrance (from 20g total oil - 10g FloraFix).
  5. Ethyl Alcohol: Use the remaining amount from the 90 grams base, which is 90 grams (base) - 10 grams (Pure Seduction) - 10 grams (FloraFix) = 70 grams.

Therefore, for a total of 100 grams of perfume, the ratio according to the staff's recommendation (using a total fragrance oil concentration of 20% and 10g FloraFix) would be:

  • Pure Seduction fragrance: 10 grams
  • FloraFix: 10 grams
  • DHEAS (0.2% in Alcohol) solution: 10 grams
  • Ethyl Alcohol: 70 grams

(Total = 10 + 10 + 10 + 70 = 100 grams)

You can adjust the amounts of Pure Seduction fragrance and FloraFix according to your preference, but maintain the proportion of the DHEAS solution at 10% of the total weight, and the combined mixture of fragrance, FloraFix, and Ethyl Alcohol at 90%.

Mixing Instructions:

  1. Measure the required amount of Ethyl Alcohol into a mixing container.
  2. Add the Pure Seduction fragrance oil and FloraFix (if using) to the alcohol. Stir gently until well combined.
  3. Add the DHEAS (0.2% in Alcohol) solution to the mixture.
  4. Stir gently again to ensure all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

It is recommended to store the finished perfume in a dark, cool place for about 2-4 weeks (called Maceration) to allow the fragrance to fully develop and last longer.

Hope this information is helpful.
