Reed Diffuser Base Separation Issue
Question
I mixed English Pear & Freesia fragrance at 30% concentration with Reed Diffuser Base (LOT: 57T61G). After mixing, the liquid was cloudy, and after a while, it separated with the fragrance settling at the bottom. The fragrance LOT is 1DD0I7. Can this separated mixture still be used normally? Or do I need to add something else to make the fragrance and base mix together?
Answer
Reed Diffuser Base Separation Issue
The separation you are observing with the English Pear & Freesia fragrance and the Reed Diffuser Base (Type 1) is a known issue that can occur when the fragrance is not fully soluble in the base alone.
Can it still be used?
While the mixture might still release some scent, the separation means the fragrance is not evenly distributed. You could try shaking it well before each use, but consistent performance might be compromised compared to a stable solution.
How to fix or prevent separation:
According to the product information for the Reed Diffuser Base (Type 1), if separation occurs, you should first mix the fragrance concentrate with Ethyl Alcohol before adding this mixture to the Reed Diffuser Base. This helps to fully dissolve the fragrance, allowing it to remain dispersed in the base.
For future batches, pre-mixing the English Pear & Freesia fragrance with a suitable amount of Ethyl Alcohol before combining it with the Reed Diffuser Base (Type 1) should prevent this separation.
