Question
Regarding Rhamnose:
- What percentage of Rhamnose should be used to achieve 24-hour body odor control?
- Can Rhamnose be incorporated into oil-based soap?
Answer
Rhamnose Usage for Body Odor Control
Based on experimental data, using Rhamnose at a concentration of 3% applied to the underarm area showed an 11% reduction in body odor lasting 25 hours. While this indicates some long-lasting effect, it does not guarantee complete 24-hour odor elimination.
The recommended usage rate for Rhamnose in formulations is 1-5%.
Regarding its use in oil-based soap, Rhamnose is water-soluble and should be mixed in water with a formula pH in the range of 5-9. Traditional oil-based soaps typically have a high alkaline pH, which is outside the recommended range for Rhamnose. Therefore, Rhamnose is generally not suitable for use in oil-based soap formulations.
