Question

I would like to make a room spray. Can I mix deb mix 70% (with 2% Flora Fix added) Essential Oil 30% according to this formula? Is it correct that I don't need to add water? Thank you.

Answer

Room Spray Formulation Inquiry

Thank you for your question regarding your proposed room spray formulation using DEB Mix (70% with 2% Flora Fix) and Essential Oil (30%).

Based on general cosmetic and fragrance formulation principles, a typical room spray requires a system to properly disperse the essential oils within a base, which often includes water. Essential oils are not water-soluble and need a solubilizer or emulsifier to create a stable, sprayable product when mixed with water.

Your proposed formula uses a very high concentration of essential oil (30%) and does not explicitly mention the use of water or a specific solubilizer/emulsifier. While I was unable to find specific product information for "DEB Mix" and "Flora Fix" from the search results that would confirm their suitability as a complete base and fixative for this high concentration in a room spray without water, generally, such a high oil concentration without a proper dispersion system and water is unlikely to result in a stable, clear, and effectively sprayable product.

Standard room spray formulations typically use a much lower percentage of essential oils (usually between 1% to 5%) combined with a base that includes water and a suitable solubilizer or a high percentage of alcohol to keep the essential oils dispersed.

Therefore, based on typical formulation practices and the information available, your proposed formula is likely not suitable for creating a stable room spray without the addition of water and a proper solubilizing agent to disperse the high concentration of essential oil.
