Scent Notes in Mixed Perfume
Question
I mixed Egoiste platinum and Coco fragrance oils with perfume-grade alcohol and Foral Fix. I want to know if the scent mechanism will be like normal perfume, having top note, middle note, and base note?
Answer
The mechanism of scent release for the perfume you mixed (Egoiste platinum and Coco fragrance oils with perfume-grade alcohol and Foral Fix) will be like a normal perfume. It will exhibit the characteristics of Top Note, Middle Note, and Base Note.
- Top Note: This is the most volatile scent, which you smell immediately after applying. It creates the first impression and is often fresh, light scents like citrus or green notes.
- Middle Note: This scent appears after the Top Note fades. It is the main body or "heart" of the perfume, often floral, fruity, or spicy notes. This scent lasts longer than the Top Note.
- Base Note: This is the least volatile scent and remains on the skin the longest. It provides depth and longevity to the perfume, often consisting of woody, musk, vanilla, or resinous notes.
Each fragrance oil (Egoiste platinum and Coco) contains a blend of fragrance molecules with different evaporation rates. When mixed with alcohol, which acts as a carrier and helps disperse the scent, and a fixative to help the scent last longer, these components work together. This causes the scent of your mixed perfume to change and develop over time, just like commercial perfumes.
