Scent Profile of Virgin Avocado Oil
Question
I would like to inquire about the scent characteristics of Virgin Avocado Oil. Is it the natural scent of the avocado itself? The formulation is not sensitive to scent, but rather I want to retain the natural scent of the main oil without adding additional fragrance.
Answer
Scent of Virgin Avocado Oil
Virgin Avocado Oil typically has a distinct, characteristic scent that is nutty, grassy, and sometimes described as having an earthy or mushroom-like aroma. This scent comes directly from the avocado fruit itself, as virgin oil is less processed than refined versions.
If your formulation aims to retain the natural scent of the main oil, Virgin Avocado Oil is a good choice because it carries the natural aroma of the avocado. In contrast, Refined Avocado Oil, like the one available (Product ID: 91), undergoes processing that removes much of the natural color and scent, resulting in a nearly odorless oil.
Avocado Butter (Product ID: 9637) is also available, which is a butter derived from avocado oil and may have a different texture and potentially a milder scent compared to the liquid oil.
