Question

Could you provide an example formulation for a Silicone Gel that incorporates oil-soluble active ingredients? I am interested in using:

  • Silicone Gel (Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer): 91.5%
  • Perfect-C (Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate) (equivalent to Ascorbic Acid): 5%
  • Phyto Glycyrrhetinic Acid (equivalent to Glycyrrhiza Glabra): 3%
  • SiliSolve Plus: 0.5%

What is the mixing method?

Answer

Example Silicone Gel Formulation

This formulation is based on the staff's recommendation to achieve a texture similar to the product you described.

  • Silicone Gel (Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer): 91.5%
  • Perfect-C (Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate) (equivalent to Ascorbic Acid): 5%
  • Phyto Glycyrrhetinic Acid (equivalent to Glycyrrhiza Glabra): 3%
  • SiliSolve Plus: 0.5%

Mixing Method:

  1. Combine all the ingredients together.
  2. Mix until everything is fully incorporated and uniform.

The staff noted that for this type of silicone gel base, you should add ingredients that are soluble in oil and use SiliSolve Plus to help emulsify them into the silicone base.
