Simple Ways to Use Lactic Acid (AHA) for Skin Exfoliation

Lactic Acid (AHA) is an effective ingredient for skin exfoliation, helping to make skin smoother and more even-toned. For a simple wash-off mask application, you can mix Lactic Acid with a water-based ingredient.

Simple Mixing Method:

1. Choose a suitable base that can be applied as a mask and easily washed off. Simple options include a plain water-based gel or even just distilled water thickened slightly with a gelling agent.
2. Add Lactic Acid to your chosen base. For consumer use, the concentration of Lactic Acid in the final product should not exceed 10%. Since the Lactic Acid (AHA) 88% product is 88% concentration, you will need to calculate the amount needed to achieve your desired final concentration (e.g., for a 5% Lactic Acid mask, you would use approximately 5.7 grams of Lactic Acid 88% per 100 grams of the final product).
3. Ensure the pH of the final mixture is not lower than 3.5 and ideally not higher than 4.0 for optimal effectiveness and safety. You may need to adjust the pH using a pH adjuster if necessary.

How to Use:

Apply the mixture to clean skin, leave on for a short period (start with a few minutes and gradually increase if your skin tolerates it), and then rinse off thoroughly with water.

Important Considerations:

• Always perform a patch test before applying to your entire face.
• Start with a low concentration (e.g., 5%) and short contact time.
• Using AHA products can increase skin sensitivity to the sun. Always use sun protection daily, especially when using products containing AHAs.
