Solid Shampoo Formulation

Solid shampoo bars typically consist of solid surfactants as the main cleansing agents. The most common solid surfactants used are Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) and Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS). These provide good lather and cleansing properties in a solid form.

Other ingredients commonly found in solid shampoo bars include:

• Conditioning agents: Such as Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, or Behentrimonium Methosulfate, to help condition the hair and make it easier to comb.
• Natural oils or butters: Like Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, or Coconut Oil, to nourish and moisturize the hair and scalp.
• Additives: Such as Panthenol (Vitamin B5), hydrolyzed proteins, or botanical extracts for added benefits.
• Colorants and fragrances: To give the bar a desired appearance and scent.
• Mild co-surfactants: To boost lather and reduce the potential harshness of the primary surfactants.

Formulating solid shampoo involves carefully balancing the surfactants to achieve good cleansing and lather while ensuring the bar is hard enough and doesn't dissolve too quickly. The manufacturing process usually involves melting or heating the ingredients and pressing them into a mold.
