Question
Does liquid Lauryl Alcohol dissolve in water, and if so, does it precipitate, or is it simply insoluble in water?
Answer
Lauryl Alcohol (also known as Dodecanol) is a fatty alcohol. Due to its long hydrocarbon chain, it is generally not soluble in water. It is more soluble in organic solvents.
When mixed with water, Lauryl Alcohol will not dissolve and will likely separate or appear as a solid/precipitate, depending on its physical state and the temperature.
