Solubilizing Hemp Seed Oil and Vitamin E in Aristoflex AVC Gel for Clarity

To achieve a clear gel with Hemp Seed Oil and Vitamin E in an Aristoflex AVC base, you need a high-efficiency solubilizer. Since natural oils and Vitamin E are more difficult to solubilize than fragrances, a specialized solubilizer is required to maintain the clarity of the water-based gel.

Recommended Solubilizers

1. Eco Solve™: A powerful solubilizer specifically designed for oils, esters, and oil-soluble vitamins like Vitamin E. It provides excellent clarity and is cost-effective.
2. Flora Solve™ Clear: An alternative that works well for creating micro-emulsions, helping to encapsulate oils into tiny particles that are smaller than the wavelength of light, resulting in a clear solution.

Suggested Ratio and Mixing Method

For a total oil content of 0.15% (0.1% Hemp Seed Oil + 0.05% Vitamin E), the recommended ratio of solubilizer to oil is typically 3:1 to 5:1 to ensure complete clarity.

Example Formula Adjustment:

• Hemp Seed Oil: 0.1%
• Vitamin E: 0.05%
• Eco Solve™ or Flora Solve™ Clear: 0.45% - 0.75% (3-5 times the total oil weight)
• Aristoflex AVC: 2.0%
• Water: to 100%

Mixing Steps:

1. Premix the Oil Phase: Combine the Hemp Seed Oil, Vitamin E, and the chosen solubilizer. Stir until the mixture is completely clear and homogeneous.
2. Prepare the Water Phase: Disperse Aristoflex AVC in water and mix until a smooth gel forms.
3. Combine: Slowly add the premixed oil phase (Step 1) into the gel (Step 2) while stirring continuously. The gel should remain clear.

Technical Note

Aristoflex AVC is an anionic polymer that is sensitive to electrolytes (salts). The recommended solubilizers are non-ionic, so they will not affect the viscosity or stability of your gel base. However, always ensure the oil and solubilizer are thoroughly mixed before adding them to the water phase to prevent cloudiness.
