Question

Can Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine be dissolved in the water phase at pH 6.0, and will it remain effective after adjusting the final formulation's pH?

Answer

Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine Solubility and pH

Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine is soluble in the oil phase, not the water phase. It should be added to the oil phase of your formulation.

The pH requirement of 5.5-6.5 mentioned in the product description refers to the pH of the water phase during the emulsification process (when combining the oil and water phases) to ensure proper blending. It does not mean the ingredient dissolves in water at this pH.

After the emulsification is complete, you can adjust the pH of the final formulation as desired, typically within the range of 3.5-6.5, and the ingredient will remain effective.
