Sunscreen Formulation Issue with Light Cream Maker™ for High SPF

Question

Is it possible to create a high SPF sunscreen formulation (e.g., SPF 60+) using `Light Cream Maker` as the emulsifier? I understand that high SPF formulations typically require a high percentage of oil and solid phase ingredients. If `Light Cream Maker` is not suitable for this type of formula due to its limitation in handling high oil/solid content (above 40%), what alternative emulsifier or sunscreen base would you recommend to achieve a high SPF?

Answer

Based on the feedback from the staff, your proposed sunscreen formulation is not stable. The main reason is that the emulsifier you are using, Light Cream Maker™, is not suitable for formulas with such a high percentage of oil and solid phases (which is much higher than the 40% limit it can handle).

To achieve a high SPF level like SPF 60+, the staff recommends considering the use of SPF Protect Ultra.
