Question

I am seeking technical support regarding Vitamin E and Menthol beads. I observed that these beads did not disperse in water even after 12 hours and also did not stain hair. A photo was provided for reference.

Answer

Technical Support for Vitamin E & Menthol Beads

Thank you for reaching out regarding the behavior of the vitamin E and menthol beads in water.

Based on the product information for the Vitamin E Beads, these beads are designed to swell and disperse when mixed into a cosmetic formulation, not necessarily when placed in plain water. The dry beads typically take around 12 hours to absorb water from the surrounding formula and become ready for use. The wet beads are pre-hydrated and ready to be added directly to a formulation without prior soaking.

The effectiveness of their dispersion depends on the overall composition and viscosity of the formulation they are added to. Simply placing them in water may not provide the necessary environment for them to swell and disperse as intended.

Regarding the staining of hair, the Vitamin E Beads are not designed as hair dyes. Their color comes from pigments contained within the beads themselves. These pigments are released when the beads break upon application (e.g., when massaged into the skin or hair), providing a visual effect, but they are not intended to permanently stain hair.

For the menthol component, the product found in our search, CoCool™, is a liquid blend of Menthol and Menthyl Lactate. It is designed to be mixed into the oil phase or dissolved in Glycol or Ethyl Alcohol, not dispersed in water as beads. If you are using a different menthol bead product, its specific properties would need to be considered.

To ensure the beads perform correctly, they should be incorporated into a suitable cosmetic formulation according to the recommended mixing instructions (typically added in the final phase with gentle stirring).

Question:

I need a formula for an anti-hair loss spray. Could you provide a sample formulation and instructions?

Answer:

Anti-Hair Loss Spray Formulation

Here is a sample formulation for an anti-hair loss spray using some of our key ingredients known for their benefits in promoting hair growth and scalp health:

Sample Formula

Ingredient Percentage (%)
Distilled Water q.s. to 100%
Pep®-Brow (Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3) 3%
ActiveRelease™ Biotin 3%
Hair-Prebiotic™ 3%
Preservative 0.5 - 1%
UV Filter (e.g., Protec™ UV) As recommended

Ingredient Benefits

  • Pep®-Brow (Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3): This peptide helps stimulate hair follicles, extend the hair growth cycle (anagen phase), and reduce hair loss. It also strengthens hair follicles and improves scalp health with anti-inflammatory properties.
  • ActiveRelease™ Biotin: This special form of Biotin is highly soluble and easily absorbed by the scalp, even at lower pH levels (pH 3.5+). It is known to accelerate hair growth, reduce hair loss, and strengthen hair roots.
  • Hair-Prebiotic™: This prebiotic adheres to the hair, helping to soften and nourish it naturally.

Mixing Instructions

  1. Combine the Distilled Water, Pep®-Brow, and Hair-Prebiotic™. Stir until fully dissolved.
  2. Add ActiveRelease™ Biotin. You can gently heat the mixture up to 60°C to help dissolve the Biotin faster, then cool it down. Blend thoroughly until the Biotin is fully dispersed.
  3. Add your chosen Preservative and UV Filter (if using). Stir until incorporated.
  4. Check and adjust the pH if necessary (ActiveRelease™ Biotin is soluble from pH 3.5 upwards).
  5. Fill into a spray bottle.

Note: A preservative is essential for any water-based product to prevent microbial growth. ActiveRelease™ Biotin is photosensitive, so including a UV filter like Protec™ UV is highly recommended to protect its efficacy.
