Using NaturePreserve to stabilize Urea instead of Gluconolactone
Question
Can NaturePreserve be used to stabilize Urea instead of Gluconolactone (Natural PHA)? I have NaturePreserve available and previously used Gluconolactone.
Answer
NaturePreserve (preservative) primarily functions to prevent microbial growth in cosmetic formulations.
On the other hand, Gluconolactone (Natural PHA), in addition to its skin conditioning properties, also has pH adjusting and chelating properties, which can help improve the stability of Urea in a formulation, particularly preventing the degradation of Urea that can occur.
Therefore, NaturePreserve cannot be used to stabilize Urea for the same purpose as Gluconolactone. The two ingredients have completely different functions. NaturePreserve is used for preservation, while Gluconolactone is used to help with Urea stability and as a skin conditioning agent.
