Question
I have two questions regarding skincare ingredients:
- Can Pitera and stabilized vitamin C be used together? I tried using them together and noticed small clogged pores appearing. Is this caused by using these two ingredients together?
I want to create a cream formulation for acne treatment and skin whitening using the following ingredients:
- Encapsulated Salicylic Acid 6.6%
- Glycolic Acid 10%
- Pitera
- Stabilized vitamin C
I plan to use Luxury Cream Maker as the cream base. Do you have a recommended formula? What is the mixing procedure, and what percentages should I use for each ingredient? I have a lot of clogged pores that don't go away, and my skin is dull, so I want to try making my own formula.
Answer
Response to your questions about skincare ingredients
Here is the information based on the staff's response:
Can Pitera and stabilized vitamin C be used together?
- Yes, Pitera (Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate) and stabilized vitamin C can be used together.
- According to the staff, this combination is not the cause of clogged pores.
- While Vitamin C can be acidic and potentially cause irritation, the stabilized form is generally less irritating, and the staff noted it is less irritating compared to AHA/BHA. The clogged pores you experienced are likely due to other factors, not specifically the combination of these two ingredients.
Cream formulation for acne and whitening using specific ingredients:
- You mentioned wanting to create a cream with Encapsulated Salicylic Acid 6.6%, Glycolic Acid 10%, Pitera, stabilized vitamin C, using Luxury Cream Maker.
- Based on the staff's advice, combining high concentrations of Glycolic Acid (AHA) and Encapsulated Salicylic Acid (BHA) in a single formula is not recommended due to the high risk of skin irritation.
- For treating clogged pores, the staff recommends using BHA (like Encapsulated Salicylic Acid) as a separate toner. A 2% BHA concentration is suggested, which is equivalent to using 6.6% Encapsulated Salicylic Acid.
- Other nourishing ingredients can be used separately from the BHA toner.
- Therefore, a cream formula combining all these ingredients at the high percentages you mentioned is not advisable according to the staff's guidance due to the potential for severe irritation. It is better to use the BHA treatment separately and follow with nourishing products.
I hope this clarifies your questions!
