Question

How can I add Alpha Arbutin to the sunscreen formula previously suggested by the staff, which contains SPF Protect Ultra™, LipidSoft™ Dry, Luxury Cream Maker, and Phenoxyethanol? What is the recommended percentage and how should it be incorporated?

Answer

Adding Alpha Arbutin to Your Sunscreen Formula

Based on the staff's suggested formula and the properties of Alpha Arbutin, you can add Alpha Arbutin to your sunscreen.

Recommended Amount

Alpha Arbutin can be used at a concentration of 0.2-2%. For effective skin brightening, a concentration of 2% is recommended.

To add 2g of Alpha Arbutin to the staff's suggested 100g formula, you would replace 2g of Distilled Water.

The revised formula would be:

  • Distilled Water: 69.5 g
  • SPF Protect Ultra™: 20 g
  • LipidSoft™ Dry: 5 g
  • Luxury Cream Maker: 2.5 g
  • Alpha Arbutin (China): 2 g
  • Phenoxyethanol: 1 g
  • Total: 100 g

Mixing Steps

Follow the mixing steps provided by the staff for the modified formula, incorporating Alpha Arbutin into the water phase:

  1. Prepare the Water Phase: Combine Distilled Water and Alpha Arbutin. Mix until Alpha Arbutin is completely dissolved.
  2. Prepare the Oil Phase: Combine SPF Protect Ultra™, LipidSoft™ Dry, and Luxury Cream Maker.
  3. Heat the Oil Phase: Gently heat the oil phase mixture to 70°C until all ingredients are dissolved and combined.
  4. Combine Phases: Gradually add the water phase (containing dissolved Alpha Arbutin) into the heated oil phase in 5-10 portions while continuously mixing. Mix until a homogeneous cream is formed.
  5. Cooling and Final Additions: Allow the cream to cool down. Once the temperature is below 30°C, add Phenoxyethanol and mix thoroughly.
