Question

How can I add a cooling sensation to perfume without affecting its original scent? What ingredients are suitable for this purpose, what are their properties, recommended usage rates, and how should they be incorporated into a perfume formula?

Answer

Cooling Agents for Perfume

To add a cooling sensation to your perfume while keeping the original fragrance, you can use cooling agents like CoolTouch™ (Menthyl Lactate) or WS-23 Cooling Agent (Methyl Diisopropyl Propionamide).

These ingredients are designed to provide a cooling effect on the skin without a strong inherent odor that would interfere with your perfume's scent.

  • CoolTouch™ (Menthyl Lactate): Provides a cooling sensation and is gentler than Menthol. It is soluble in oil, glycol, or ethyl alcohol. Recommended usage rate is 0.1-1%.
  • WS-23 Cooling Agent (Methyl Diisopropyl Propionamide): Also provides a cooling sensation. It is soluble in oil, glycol, or ethyl alcohol. Recommended usage rate is 0.1-0.5%.

Both can be mixed into the oil or alcohol phase of your perfume formulation.
