Question

When adding fragrance oil to a gel made with Any Gel, what is needed and at what step should it be added?

Answer

Adding Fragrance Oil to AnyGel™ Gel

To add fragrance oil to a gel made with AnyGel™, you will need a solubilizer. Fragrance oils are oil-based and will not mix directly into a water-based gel like AnyGel™ without one.

What you need:

  • Fragrance oil
  • A suitable solubilizer (e.g., Polysorbate 20, Polysorbate 80, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil)
  • Your prepared AnyGel™ gel

Steps:

  1. In a separate container, mix the fragrance oil with the solubilizer. The ratio of solubilizer to fragrance oil can vary depending on the specific fragrance, but a common starting point is a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio (solubilizer:fragrance). You may need to use a higher ratio (e.g., 5:1 or more) to achieve a clear solution.
  2. Stir this mixture well until the fragrance oil is fully dispersed in the solubilizer.
  3. Slowly add the solubilized fragrance mixture to your finished AnyGel™ gel. Add it during the final step of your formulation, after the gel has fully formed.
  4. Gently stir the gel to incorporate the fragrance mixture evenly. Avoid vigorous mixing, which can introduce air bubbles.

Using a solubilizer ensures that the fragrance oil remains evenly dispersed throughout the gel and prevents cloudiness or separation.
